Sell Beats Online - Exclusive Vs Leasing Rights By Rich Sample
Before you can start making money you need to understand the different ways to sell your beats. You can either sell exclusive rights to your beat or leasing rights.
Exclusive rights means you are transferring them full ownership of the beat. They own the copyrights and may do what they please with the beat because it is now theirs. You may not reuse or resale the beat without written consent.
There are advantages and disadvantages to selling exclusive rights to the beat. One main advantage is you can charge a significant larger amount for exclusive rights. Prices vary drastically from producer to producer. When I first started out online I would charge $250 for exclusive rights to my beats. I realize now that was a
Preparing for Google's New Search Engine Enhancements.
We recently made some small coding modifications and notified Google of these changes in hopes to keep up with their recent search results updates. The web is constantly changing and it's important that we at least try and stay current. If you have not recently taken the time to look around the web, then please do so. The online user experience is shifting and its shifting fast. What was once normal for us is morphing into a whole new standard. Coming sometime in 2010 Microsoft will begin to power Yahoo search with their new Bing algorithm this change alone should make you to re-think your online marketing strategies. Both Google and Bing will included twitter posts into these results to display a more really time effect. Google this year has been making acquisition after acquisition include a mobile advertisement company to their portfolio. In my opinion this plus the development of their Android mobile operating system makes me believe something major is about to go down. And last but not least to top it off by January 1st we plan to officially start the uEmcee Online Store, I sent off for the paper work today so we have our fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly. Once the store is online please support us by making a purchase, we are hoping for success with this addition.

]]> Now with Faster Searches!
A few minor changes made over the weekend to enhance the user experience. We modified the search feature to included auto suggested location. So now when you enter in the first letter of your search what should be returned is a filtered down list of locations that begin with the letter of your search query. Overall this is a small change but should help speed up user searches and enhance the experience.
We also modified the search results itself. A user is now able to drill down one additional level to the location's city. So basically if you just want to see all of the independent artists/bands that are in Los Angles California or Atlanta Georgia you can. Simply click the city of any artist of band in the search result.
Again these are minor changes but we hope that they make the user experience a bit better.

mistake.
A big disadvantage is that you will never get to use the beat again. If Jay-z wanted to use that particular beat you wouldn't be able to sell it to him. On the other hand if the person who bought the rights chooses to resell it to a different artist at a higher price they may do so. Now I won't sell exclusive rights for under $2,500. I really don't like selling exclusives unless it is to major artist.
Leasing is selling limited rights to your beats. The rights are whatever you specify in the contract. I generally give them rights to use the beat, but I still own the beat and can resell it as many times as I wish. The biggest advantage is the resell aspect. Instead of making $2,500 one time on 1 beat, I'd rather lease it 100 times for $40.
As you can see there is a lot of money to be made selling leasing rights to your music. If you are going to sell beats online I suggest using this type of contractual agreement because you will make more money in the long run.
